stateofpvinfo.com to receive educational resources, including a
helpful tracking diary you can use to better understand where you are on your
journey with PV. Bring this tool along to your next appointment so that you
and your Healthcare Professional can identify your PV STATE OF MINE.
When I first was diagnosed, I wasn’t my own advocate. I didn’t gather the knowledge
I needed. Now, when I visit the doctor’s office, I make sure that I have a copy of my
labs in my hands. I have a notebook to keep track of everything. That way, I can
look back and see if things have changed. I’m more educated and more prepared
for my visit.
I’ve had a very positive experience with my doctor and nurse. I contact them
with any questions I may have. I’m fortunate to have them as my partners.
I strongly encourage every patient to be their own advocate. Keep track of every
piece of information that you can get from your doctor. Document your journey
to see where you’ve been and where you’re going.
Being your own advocate is important. That’s why it’s essential to recognize – and respond –
to any changes you’ve noticed in between visits with your healthcare team. Keeping track
of your blood counts, symptoms, and even your feelings not only helps to identify your
PV STATE OF MINE but may also help you and your Healthcare Professional understand
how your PV is affecting you over time.
It may be helpful to keep copies of your lab results and bring them with you to your next
appointment. You may also want to bring any other relevant information, such as a symptom
journal. You can use this information to talk with your Healthcare Professional about:
c Hematocrit levels c White blood cell (WBC) counts
c PV-related symptoms c Platelet counts
